First few days...

Well with a combination of the long journey, excitement of being here and jet lag.. I am a few days behind. So here is a summary of the last few days in Norway.

On Monday we unpacked the bags and just kinda blobbed out.  It was nice just to be here. Jet lag hadnt really hit any of us yet so we were quite with it.  In the afternoon we were took a walk down to the town of Steinkjer and had a look at the shops, it was just a quick walk but nice to get out and about.  By the time we got back Alina was feeling the strains of jetlag and being a little unwell.  Both kids went to bed ok and slept really well.  The 24hour daylight is a bit strange... as it never goes dark.  First night I woke up hearing the birds singing, sun was shining... looked at the clock and thought it must have been 6.15am.. so i got up.. i was a bit wrong - it was 3.30am!!!!!!!  It has been getting better since then.

On Tuesday we packed a picnic and headed to a little place called Paradisbukta.  It was beautiful and really like Paradise.  There we had a lil something to eat , the kids paddled in the water... then we walked back through the forest back to the car.  Dad & I decided to go back home and get the kids togs, as they wanted to go swimming in the fjord.. ...  It was a little colder than they were expecting, and they didn't last long lol.

Today we had a relaxing morning.. then packed a light lunch and took a drive to a place called Henning Vola .  It is a mountain with a ski resort on it, but at the moment is quite beautiful, because it is all green.  We walked a little way to a lake called Henning Vatnet.  It was again beautiful.  The kids put on their togs and braved the chilly waters...even granddad & Dad got in.  Mum & I took the photos, cause someone has to do it lol.  We then traveled back home via a lake called Leksdalsvatnet..... the farm land and rolling countryside is so impressive.  The contrast from the lush green rolling fields to the bright red farm buildings.... just awesome, is like stepping back in time.

When we got back Alina and Sam were introduced to the neighbors children.  At first there was a bit of a standoff as the language barrier made all a little self-concious...but soon they all started playing and had a wonderful time.  They are looking forward to meeting with them again tomorrow.

I am having a little trouble pronouncing the place names. So they sound a little funny. We all LOL about them. We will check out Google Earth to see if we can see where you have been. (Mrs Keene)
